Jose M. Viruet, LCPC, is an Illinois-licensed professional counselor with more than 20 years of experience supporting adolescents, young adults, and adults with complex mental and behavioral health needs. As a bilingual clinician, Jose brings a culturally responsive, person-centered approach to care and works to create an environment where clients feel heard, respected, and supported.
His clinical background includes residential treatment, inpatient hospital settings, community outreach, and integrated medical environments. Jose has training in EMDR, trauma-informed care, group therapy, substance use treatment, crisis de-escalation, and the Transition-to-Independence Process (TIP) model.
Jose’s approach focuses on helping clients better understand the challenges they are facing, develop practical coping strategies, and strengthen the skills and confidence needed to move forward. His work combines clinical experience with a collaborative style that emphasizes trust, independence, and individualized support.
As Founder and Clinical Director of Thrive for Wellness, Jose works in conjunction with Jiva Psychiatry to help connect patients with appropriate behavioral health care and ongoing support.
